Roof Vents
Prevent Grain Bin Mould
Important for ensuring proper air flow and preventing blowing snow
or rain from entering the bin (one of the most common reasons for
grain spoilage), Westeel roof vents have been specially designed
to fit your Westeel grain bin. The roof vents allow moisture laden
air to efficiently leave the bin without the need of having to climb
onto the roof to open the hatches. Westeel vents are easy to install
and are constructed of galvanized steel and advanced polymers. They
come complete with all the necessary mounting hardware and a 3/4"
mesh screen to prevent birds from entering the bin.

2 Types of Roof Vent:

14" CircVent
(Polymer Design)
|

15" X 15" Gooseneck Vent
|
Roof vents increase the efficiency of the aeration system and should
always be used in drying applications.
As the moisture condensates on the under side of the roof, it falls
in droplets back on the grain. Once the top has started to mould,
the grain seals itself at the top layer, the grain loses its natural
aspiration and the rest of the grain in the bin will begin to spoil.
We recommend that once the bin has been filled, the cone created
by the grain falling into the bin be "levelled" either
by hand or by unloading enough grain at the bottom of the bin to
eliminate the cone shape of the grain at the top.
